The City Council awards the works for the new stretch of the coastal corridor in Benamara

The route will extend the pedestrian path connecting the walks already planned in El Saladillo and the Dos Hermanas urbanization.

The Estepona Town Hall informs that the works have been awarded for the execution of a new section of the coastal corridor; specifically, the one corresponding to the Benamara area. This is the path that will connect the walks already planned in El Saladillo and, on the east side, in the urbanization Dos Hermanas.

A total of 22 companies were interested in this project and submitted their bids. Finally the action has been awarded to Transportes y Excavaciones Valle del Sol, s.l. for a contract price of 835,421.28 euros VAT included, which represents a reduction in the base bid price which was set at 1.2 million euros VAT included.

The objective of this action is to give continuity to the pedestrian itinerary and increase the accessible length of the promenade in the area. In this sense, it has been planned to act on a beachfront front of approximately 839 meters long in the Benamara area. The works include the creation of a printed concrete pedestrian path along its entire length, with a width of three meters, in line with the rest of the corridor.

The intervention allows the recovery of a longitudinal strip along the entire beachfront for public use, for pedestrians, bicycles and light vehicles.

The execution period for this work, once the reconsideration report has been verified, has been estimated at six months. This new section continues to shape the coastal corridor project in Estepona, which is more than 90% completed.

After the actions carried out in recent months, the City Council has already reached more than 21 kilometers of constructed coastal corridor, being very close to reaching the end of this sustainable project and of great impact for the city that has meant preserving the coastline, adding value and enabling a new tourist attraction. The municipal forecast is that the pending sections will be completed before the end of the year.
