The City Council and the ’24 Horas Deportivas’ Foundation organize a new edition of the School Games

The competitions will start next Friday, March 15, and will last until June.
The councilman attached to the municipal delegation of Sport, Luis Miguel Gil Amores, and the president of the Foundation ’24 Hours Sports’, Manuel Vallejo, today presented a new edition of the School Games, involving the centers of Primary and Secondary Education in the town.
The municipal responsible has stated that this competition is purely participatory and stressed the educational nature of the School Games, as well as offering the opportunity to play sports to a large number of children, this competition has its own philosophy and an objective that is to educate through sports discipline, thus instilling values such as companionship, respect for the rival or fair play.
Manuel Vallejo explained that the students have spent several months receiving classes in the sport in which they have enrolled, as well as conducting preparatory training for this phase that begins on Friday and in which more than 30 teams will participate. A total of 7 leagues will be played and the sports practiced are indoor soccer, handball and basketball 3×3, which are played in the St. Thomas Aquinas sports center, and volleyball in schools. In April, athletics will begin at the Athletics Stadium. In addition, orienteering sports will be held in schools, with the grand final being held in May at the Fair and Sports Center.
Also included are other activities such as the V Sailing Match Race that takes place on weekends at the facilities of the Real Club Náutico de Estepona. Also, thanks to the agreement with the Andalusian Rowing Federation, the educational centers of the town carry out didactic units on rowing, with ergometers and qualified instructors who teach in each school and institute all the modalities of this sport.
Finally, the organization encourages all families who want to enroll their children in any of these competitions to be informed through the 24 Hours Sports Foundation, the municipal delegation of Sport or the monitor in charge in each school.
