The City Council carries out a new information campaign to prevent the effects of the cold on dependent people.

Through this initiative, teleoperators of the Telecare Service are in charge of explaining to users and family members the measures to be followed.

Estepona City Council reports on the new municipal campaign that is being carried out to raise awareness among users of the Telecare Service and people who are responsible for their care of the measures to be taken to prevent the serious consequences of low temperatures.

The deputy mayor of the Sociocultural area, Paula Herrera, explained that, through this initiative, the company Tunstall Televida, which manages this service, reports for several weeks, in a personalized way, on how to prevent the effects of cold to this sector of the population, especially vulnerable.

Among the general recommendations, it is advisable to consume warm meals, such as broths or stews that will increase the body temperature, as well as fresh foods such as fruits (citrus fruits) and vegetables, as well as nuts and dried fruits.

It is also important to avoid the entry of cold air directly into the lungs, to pay attention with hot water bottles or electric mats to avoid burns, to moisturize the skin with creams to protect it, and not to take any medication on your own, without a doctor’s prescription, and to consult about the flu vaccine.

Indoors, it is recommended to ventilate the house long enough, to have a radio and to have a flashlight and spare batteries at hand, to check the condition of heating appliances, to have a minimum stock of medicines, especially if you suffer from a chronic disease, and to try to exercise at home, in case you do not go outdoors.

In case of having to leave the house, it is recommended to avoid open spaces and to avoid long periods without moving, and to avoid sudden changes in temperature. It is also advisable to wear warm and warm clothing, and to protect, above all, face and head, and to wear waterproof footwear with non-slip soles.

Finally, from this service, users are advised to consult the weather forecast and the state of the aviary network, in case they have to travel by vehicle.
