The City Council starts the repair works of the stretch of the coastal corridor in Punta de la Plata damaged by the effects of the storms.

The action contemplates the recessing of the promenade after the agreement reached with the neighbors of the area for the new layout of the path.

The Estepona City Council has started the repair works of a section of the coastal corridor, in the area of Punta de la Plata, which is affected by the effects of maritime storms and closed to the passage to preserve the safety of users. The projected action contemplates the recessing of the promenade, which will run parallel to the existing one that was built at the time by the developer of the adjacent urbanization.

The technical reports have detected damage to the masonry wall that serves as a retaining wall for the walkway-path built by the developer. The solution to be able to condition the coastal corridor at this point is now to set back both the wall and the promenade. The City Council and the neighbors of the urbanization have reached an agreement for the realization of this urgent intervention that will move the layout of the path to the transit easement of the maritime-terrestrial public domain, as determined by the Demarcation of Coasts, explains the deputy mayor of the area of Development, Infrastructure and Tourism (FIT), Ana Velasco. Consequently, the partial occupation of a strip of three meters wide on the common area of the urbanization, with the sole purpose of materializing the pedestrian and cyclist itinerary and its associated functional elements (walkway, pavements, railings, drainage or signage) will be carried out.

In this action, executed and financed by the City Council, it goes hand in hand with the community of neighbors, as stipulated in the agreement reached, so that during the execution of the works there is the least possible impact on the residents in the area.

The section of the promenade built at the time was improved with the performance of section 5 of the coastal corridor. In the area, the City Council continued to the Jacaranda area, at one end, and to Playas Andaluzas, at the other.
