The City Council continues to improve educational facilities with a comprehensive renovation of the restrooms at CEIP Santo Tomás de Aquino

The project will involve renovating six bathrooms and upgrading their plumbing, sewage, electrical, and ventilation systems. The project has a tender budget of 114,279.28 euros, including VAT.
The Estepona City Council reports that it has put out to bid the renovation work on the restrooms in the west wing of the CEIP Santo Tomás de Aquino, with a base bid budget of 114,279.28 euros, including VAT.
The project involves the complete renovation of the six restrooms located on the three floors of the school’s west wing, with men’s and women’s restrooms on each floor. The work will improve the condition of these facilities, which have deficiencies stemming primarily from their age.
The project includes the complete demolition of the existing restrooms and the renovation of flooring, tiling, partition walls, woodwork, sanitary fixtures, and utilities. Plumbing, sewer, and electrical work will also be carried out, in addition to the installation of new suspended ceilings and forced-air ventilation systems.
The planned work also includes the removal of the old fiber-cement sewer pipes, as well as the installation of new finishes and features adapted to the school’s current needs.
The councilwoman in charge of Education, María Aguilar, noted that at the Santo Tomás de Aquino Elementary School, the entire flooring—totaling 295 square meters—in its outdoor walkways is also being replaced. This work has required an investment of 32,075 euros.
With this project, the City Council continues its program to improve and modernize the municipality’s educational facilities, helping to ensure that schools have more functional, suitable, and comfortable spaces for students and the educational community.
María Aguilar noted that this year, a record investment of more than 800,000 euros is being made in projects to improve the city’s schools, thereby reaffirming the City Council’s commitment to creating spaces that are safer, more functional, and better suited to the needs of the educational community.
In this regard, she explained that in addition to routine maintenance work (electrical, painting, carpentry, plumbing, and masonry) and the minor repairs carried out during school breaks to ensure the facilities remain in good condition, this year, large-scale projects are underway that will involve the significant renovation of 18 of the city’s educational facilities, including elementary schools and preschools.
He also highlighted the City Council’s investment of 130,000 euros in the Climate Control Plan, through which classroom conditions are being improved with the installation of approximately one hundred air conditioning and heating units.
