The City Council promotes the coastal corridor with the progress of works in Benamara and the projects for Bahia Dorada and Atalaya

The new path that will link El Saladillo and Dos Hermanas is more than 80% complete and will be operational next spring.
The Estepona City Council continues to work on the initiative to create a large coastal corridor connecting the entire coastline, which is already 95% complete, with the momentum of the work in the Benamara area and projects for new sections to be conditioned in the areas of Bahia Dorada and Atalaya.
The aim of these actions is to give continuity to the pedestrian itinerary and increase the accessible length of the promenade along the entire coastline. The intervention in Benamara, which will connect the promenades planned in El Saladillo, also under construction, and in the surroundings of the Dos Hermanas urbanization, is already at 80% of its execution. The timetable being worked on, once the authorizations to move forward have been obtained, places the completion of the works in the month of March. In this way, Estepona’s coastal corridor will add another 839 meters to the beachfront. The result will be a new pedestrian path of printed concrete along its entire length, with a width of three meters, according to the rest of the corridor for public use for pedestrians, bicycles and light vehicles.
At the same time, the Consistory is working on projects for two new sections. Specifically, work is being done on the extension of the pedestrian path in the areas of Bahía Dorada, to the west, and in Atalaya, to the east. Specifically, with regard to the section corresponding to the Bahía Dorada area, the pertinent authorizations have already been obtained from the Junta de Andalucía on the preliminary project submitted, and the final project is being prepared. In the Atalaya area, within section 15 of the municipal project, all the documentation has been submitted and the permits are also awaited.
On the other hand, the City Council has opened the procedure for the contracting of repair and improvement works in the section of the promenade corresponding to La Cala-Jacaranda, where wooden platforms of the pedestrian bridge and handrails will be replaced and new light points will be installed.
After the actions carried out in recent months, the City Council has already reached more than 21 kilometers of constructed coastal corridor, being already very close to reaching the end of this sustainable and high impact project for the city that has meant preserving the coastline putting it in value and enabling a new tourist attraction.
