The City Council and the Club Atletismo Estepona organize the III Half Marathon Senda Litoral ‘Trofeo Ikos Andalusia’, in which up to 700 athletes will be able to participate.

The race will be held on May 5 and will cover a total of 21.097 kilometers.

The councilor attached to the municipal delegation of Sports, Miguel Angel Gil; the vice president of the Athletics Club, Deyanira Rivera; and the Technical Director of the race, José Juárez, have presented today the III Half Marathon Senda Litoral de Estepona ‘Trofeo IKOS Andalusia’, to be held next Sunday, May 5. This sporting event is organized by the Consistory and the Club Atletismo Estepona.

The municipal responsible has highlighted the great work carried out by the Estepona Athletics Club, which in each edition seeks excellence, making this test, despite its short history, has become a benchmark in Andalusia and bidding to do the same at the national level.

He also stated that this race is a very appreciated by athletes, by the uniqueness of the environment in which it takes place and because it is a challenge for them by the difficulty of the route.

For her part, Deyanira Rivera announced that registrations will open today from 20.00 hours and can be made through the web www.dorsalchip.es. The price is 15 euros for the first 200 registrants, 20 euros for those registered until April 9, and 25 euros until April 30. The quota has been set at a maximum of 700 participants. In addition, the categories are U-20, U-23, Senior, Master A-B-C-D-E-G-G-H, and the category for people with functional diversity, which will have to prove a minimum disability of 33 percent.

The technical director, José Juárez has stated that the test will run for a total of 21.097 kilometers, starting at 09.30 hours from the street Montemayor of Cancelada, next to the Mayor’s Office. The first five kilometers will run through the urbanizations of this urban center until reaching the first refreshment point (km 5) where the route will begin along the Coastal Path until reaching the Estepona Promenade, which will be run by the participants until reaching the Fishing Port.

Then they will go around the lighthouse and follow the route along the Avenida de España until the confluence with the Avenida Andalucía; they will pass through the small square Ortiz to enter the Calle Real and at the end they will link with the Avenida Juan Carlos I to the Parque Ferial y Deportivo and reach the finish line at the Athletics Stadium through the Marathon Gate.

The circuit will be controlled at all times by members of the various security forces, Civil Protection and volunteers. In addition, there will be checkpoints along the route, with the presence of judges from the Andalusian Athletics Federation. There will be four refreshment points at kilometers 5, 10, 15 and 19. In addition, the organization will provide buses for the movement of runners to the starting area and a checkroom vehicle. Once the race is over, there will be no buses to return to the starting point.
