The City Council executes more than thirty improvement actions in educational centers.

The work has been carried out in the last few weeks during non-school hours.

The mayor of Estepona, José María García Urbano, has reported that the City Council has executed in recent weeks more than thirty improvements in public schools in the city.

The alderman has pointed out that these actions, which have been undertaken mostly by municipal operational brigades and the rest by external companies, have involved an investment of more than 80,000 euros. The work has been carried out during non-school hours so as not to interfere with the activity of schools and kindergartens.

The improvement works have focused on painting, masonry, locksmithing and plumbing repairs.

In the case of CEIP Sierra Bermeja, the work on the bathrooms in the kindergarten area has been completed and four porch structures have been installed in the primary school playgrounds.

At CEIP García Lorca, several ceilings with dampness caused by the recent rains have been repaired and painted, all the school’s blinds have been repaired and new removable ceilings have been installed throughout the prefabricated building.

At CEIP Santo Tomás de Aquino, a new rubber floor has been installed in the kindergarten area and a 6 by 12 meter porch structure has been installed in the backyard of the primary school. In addition, we have carried out construction and locksmith work in several access areas to prevent acts of vandalism. We have also collaborated in the installation of a 6 by 12 meter porch structure in the backyard of the primary school.

At CEIP Simón Fernández a classroom has been painted where dampness had appeared and several exterior facades have been painted.

At CEIP Valeriano López, the floor of a perimeter corridor in the rear outdoor area has been repaired and all the rainwater drains in the sports court and the primary school playgrounds have been repaired.

At the Gloria Fuertes Nursery School, the rock climbing wall area has been painted in color and the interior painting of the perimeter walls has been repaired.

At CEIP María Espinosa, the handrail separating the back playgrounds of the kindergarten has been repaired, while at CEIP Ramón García, the interior painting of ceilings and corridors caused by dampness from the rains has been done.

At CEIP Victor de la Serna, the gymnasium roof area has been repaired and at CEIP Isdabe del Mar the bathrooms and corridors on the first floor have been painted due to dampness and the existing dampness in the prefabricated classrooms area has been repaired. The fence of the sports courts area, the wall of the facade of the new area and the anti-slip rubber of the entrance area have also been painted.

Finally, in the CEIP Antonio Machado, a new rubber floor has been installed in the playground, a playground equipment has been installed in that area and the ceilings of the bathrooms in the children’s area have also been repaired and painted.
