Work on the new section of the coastal corridor that will connect El Saladillo and the Dos Hermanas urbanization reaches its final stages
This new route, which is 90% complete, will be operational by the end of March
The Estepona Town Hall informs that the works being carried out for the construction of a new stretch of coastal corridor in the Benamara area are in their final stretch.
The works, which will connect the promenades planned in El Saladillo, also under construction, and in the surroundings of the Dos Hermanas urbanization, are already at 90% of their execution. The timetable being worked to, once the authorizations to proceed with the works have been obtained, puts the end of March as the end of the works, which have a budget of 468,345 euros (VAT included).
The result of this intervention will be a new pedestrian path 440 meters long of printed concrete, with a width of three meters, in line with the rest of the corridor for public use for pedestrians, bicycles and light vehicles. With this new section a new longitudinal strip is recovered in transit easement and protection of the public maritime land domain along the entire beachfront of the action.
Also, the City Council is working on the projects for the new sections to be conditioned in the areas of Bahia Dorada and Atalaya. The improvement works have also already been awarded for the section of the promenade corresponding to La Cala-Jacaranda, where wooden platforms of the pedestrian bridge and handrails will be replaced and new light points will be installed. The work for the section corresponding to Dunas-Matas Verdes is also under tender.
The aim of all these actions is to give continuity to the pedestrian itinerary and increase the accessible length of the promenade along the entire coastline. Thus, after these actions carried out during the last months, the City Council has already reached more than 21 kilometers of constructed coastal corridor, being very close to reach the end of this sustainable project and of great impact for the city that has meant preserving the coastline, adding value to it and making possible a new tourist attraction.
