Carmen Sánchez Melgar presents ‘Las voces flotantes’, her eighth collection of poems, at the Biblioteca de Culturas Contemporáneas.

The writer unveils her new introspective book where she strips away appearances to show the reader the soul “in the flesh”.

The writer Carmen Sanchez Melgar will present next Thursday at the Library of Contemporary Cultures of the Mirador del Carmen ‘The floating voices’, his eighth collection of poems under the seal of ImagenTa. It will be from 20.00 hours, with free admission until full capacity.

According to the author states in the epilogue, this book contains verses fruit “of an exercise of reflection, listening to the inside, to see my hidden roots, to hear the personal echoes, decipher the language, dig into its meaning, feel its vibration and make sense of the floating voices. This endeavor requires managing the groans embedded in the soul so that they do not germinate into bitter fruits, organizing the serene beats of the interior and making sense of them”.

Carmen Sánchez Melgar presents some introspective verses where she strips herself of appearances to show the reader the soul “in the flesh”. After reading this book, nothing will be the same”.

The work, whose cover and dividers are presented in shades of green “to show the greenness of the forest”, has six parts where the letters and verses “swirl on each page and form sentences. These, in turn, tell the stories of life”.

This book is one more bet in the literary career of more than twenty years of this author, who has also collaborated in numerous anthologies and literary magazines, among them, Almoraima, published by the Institute of Studies Campogibraltareños, of which she is advisor of number, in the sixth section of literature and journalism. In the field of narrative, she is the author of the short stories ‘El cañuelo de madroñal’, ‘La quebrada de los cuervos’, ‘El que viene del lado oscuro’, ‘La leyenda del monte Jura’, ‘El cerro de los lirios’, ‘El llanto’, ‘El espejo del alma’, ‘Los guardianes del saber’, ‘Una herencia maldita’ and ‘Taller de escritura’. All these stories have been published by Calamar publishing house as part of the collection “La huella de…”, coordinated by the novelist Ángel Gómez Rivero.

Carmen Sánchez Melgar has been deputy director of the magazine Hércules Cultural. She has also coordinated more than 150 pictorial exhibitions within the projects Mostramos tu arte and Correos de Sabinillas con arte, this last one has been carried out during a decade.

She has collaborated in different radio programs, conducting more than two hundred interviews on cultural topics. She currently directs La Pausa Necesaria, on Radio Casares.

As for the awards obtained, they highlight Ateneo de Manilva 2017 for her career as a writer, and the second prize Isabel Ovín, in 2011, for the group of poems ‘Las nieblas del alma’.

The poetry book ‘Las voces flotantes’ by Carmen Sánchez Melgar will be unveiled on February 27, at the Mirador del Carmen Cultural Center in Estepona, on the eighth floor, at 20:00 hours. The journalist and writer Juan Gaitan will be the presenter of the event.
