Success of the Municipal Sports School of Chess in the Provincial Championship of Minors 2025
There were podium finishes for Inma Flores and Carmen Núñez, first and second in the Women’s U-08 category, respectively; and for Marta Camacho, second in the Women’s U-14 category.
The City Council of Estepona reports that during the past weekend was held the Provincial Junior Chess Championship 2025, which has brought together about 200 players from U-8 to U-16 categories and where the chess players of the Municipal School of Estepona have achieved different recognitions.
The games were played by the Swiss pairing system, six rounds of 50 minutes for each player, with an increase of 10 seconds per move.
The expedition of the Municipal Sports Chess School, captained by the instructor Francisco Jesús Pareja López, has once again demonstrated its talent, dedication and competitive spirit, with podium finishes for the chess players Marta Camacho Valadez, second in the Female U-14 category; Inma Flores Pavón, first in the Female U-08 category; and Carmen Núñez Guerrero, second in the Female U-08 category.
The results of the rest of the participants, who also showed a great level and commitment during the tournament in their different categories, were as follows:
– Arthur Frayssinet Volkov (U08): he got 3 points out of 6 possible.
– Ana Otero Porcel (U10): enjoyed a great tournament.
– Marcos Otero Porcel (U12): 3 points.
– Marta Liria Mena (U12): 2 points.
– Hugo Núñez Guerrero (U14): 3 points.
– Alan Calvo Polimeno (U14): 4.5 points.
– Yago Otero Porcel (U16): 4 points out of 6 possible.
The Councilor for Sports, Luis Miguel Gil Amores, has congratulated all the participants for their great effort, dedication and tenacity during the tournament, and for continuing to carry the name of Estepona to the top of the provincial chess.
The champions will represent Malaga in the Andalusian Championship by Ages.
