The City Council acquires three professional pianos for the students of the Conservatory of Music.

The Consistory is equipping the training center with quality instruments, in accordance with the professional requirements that its students will encounter after their studies.

The Estepona City Council has acquired new musical instruments to be made available to the students of the Music Conservatory located in the Mirador del Carmen. Specifically, three professional pianos: a grand piano and two upright pianos, as well as various accessories.

The Consistory recently opened the tender, by open procedure, for the supply, transport, placement and first tuning of pianos and accessories. Once the contract was awarded and signed with the supplying company, Royal Pianos, the new instruments have already arrived at the conservatory’s facilities. They are a concert grand piano and handcrafted range finished in polished black; and two upright pianos, one of them 114-115 centimeters high, with a mechanism made of high quality materials, durability and precision. The other, 109-112 centimeters high.

Accessories such as covers and professional concert bench for the grand piano, and two studio benches for the upright piano have also been purchased. Wheels and a piano pedal lifter for use by small children have also been purchased.

Prior to this acquisition, the Consistory had already purchased other material for the different training modalities, such as music stands, stools, clarinet, saxophone and classical guitar. The objective is none other than to provide the center with quality instruments, in accordance with the professional demands that its students will encounter after their studies, as these instruments are present in all the major concert halls.

The Music Conservatory, which began operating this year, is located in part of the facilities of the Mirador del Carmen Cultural Center, which have been ceded to the regional administration through an agreement. This first course there are a total of 48 students (the total number of places offered by the Junta de Andalucía) who are studying elementary music. Specifically, 15 places for piano, 12 for guitar, 12 for clarinet and 9 for saxophone.

The new center responds to a historical demand that existed in the city, since students who wanted to receive formal musical training had to travel to other municipalities. The opening of an Elementary Conservatory of Music in Estepona is the result of the interest of the City Council to expand the public educational offer in the city and, mainly, of the joint and coordinated work between the Consistory and the Department of Educational Development and Vocational Training of the Andalusian Government.
