The City Council approves an increase in the number of accessible taxis by issuing five new licenses in Estepona

The City Council has already received a favorable report from the General Directorate of Mobility and Transportation of the Regional Ministry of Public Works, Territorial Planning, and Housing of the Regional Government of Andalusia, which has determined that this measure is necessary

The Estepona City Council reports that it has approved the expansion of the local Euro Taxis fleet with the addition of five new accessible vehicles, each with a capacity of up to 9 passengers, with the aim of continuing to improve the services provided to residents.

With this measure, the municipality will now have 95 licenses for accessible taxis, up from the current 90, which will strengthen the service, improve assistance for residents and visitors, and better meet the growing demand for mobility in our city.

To this end, the City Council has already received a favorable report from the General Directorate of Mobility and Transportation, part of the Regional Ministry of Development, Territorial Planning, and Housing of the Regional Government of Andalusia, in which this agency acknowledges the need for this measure, given that the city has experienced a significant population increase over the past 14 years—particularly between 2020 and 2025, when the population grew by nearly 10,000 new residents. Added to this is the large transient population present in the municipality due to its strong focus on tourism.

Furthermore, the agency cites the growth in economic activity within the municipality, which has had a significant impact on travel between its various population centers, as well as to the rest of the province.

Through this initiative, the City Council is taking another step toward continuing to offer more efficient, accessible, and higher-quality public transportation.
