The City Council inaugurates Manuel Requena “Melilla” Square as a new public space featuring play areas and rest areas

The Estepona City Council announces that today, July 30, at 8:30 p.m., the renovation project for Manuel Requena “Melilla” Square will be inaugurated—a project that has enhanced the space and made it more accessible for residents to enjoy.

Through this project, the City Council has revitalized this square—which had fallen into disrepair—into a new public and recreational space featuring new play areas for children and resting areas. The result is a more modern setting with shade, gardens, and playgrounds, as well as a new lighting system. In short, an open plaza that was practically unused has been completely transformed into a place for relaxation, gathering, and play.

These projects, which had a budget of nearly 395,000 euros, are part of the plan the City Council has been implementing in traditional neighborhoods to adapt them to current community needs.

The work involved the complete replacement of the pavement, sewer and water supply systems, and the renovation of service connections and manholes. In addition, a fountain has been installed in the area.
