The City Council is making a historic investment of more than 800,000 euros to improve schools

In addition to the usual maintenance work and minor repairs carried out during school breaks, larger-scale construction projects are currently underway that will bring about a significant transformation of these educational spaces

The Estepona City Council reports that this year it is making a historic investment of more than 800,000 euros in construction projects to improve the city’s schools, thereby reaffirming its commitment to creating spaces that are safer, more functional, and better suited to the needs of the educational community.

In this regard, María Aguilar, the councilwoman in charge of the Department of Education and Children’s Affairs, explained that in addition to routine maintenance work (electrical, painting, carpentry, plumbing, carpentry, and masonry) and the minor repairs carried out during school breaks to ensure the facilities remain in good condition, far-reaching projects are being implemented this year that will result in the major renovation of 18 of the city’s educational facilities, including elementary schools and preschools.

Among these projects, the municipal official highlighted the allocation of 32,075 euros to replace all the flooring, totaling 295 square meters, in the outdoor walkways of the CEIP Santo Tomás de Aquino, where a comprehensive renovation of the restrooms will also be carried out, with an investment of 114,279.28 euros. Additionally, 42,108 euros have been allocated to pour concrete over 880 square meters of the preschool playground at CEIP Isdabe del Mar. 

Furthermore, at CEIP Nuestra Señora del Carmen, 280 square meters of the tile cladding that covered all the walls on the second floor have been removed (28,435 euros), and renovations are currently underway on the playground bleachers and walls (45,797 euros). At CEIP Ramón García, bleachers have been installed on the sports court (8,409.50 euros), among other improvements.

In addition, laminate flooring has been installed in a total of 9 classrooms at the María Espinosa, Antonio Machado, and Escuela Infantil Cancelada schools, representing an investment of more than 47,000 euros. In addition, nearly 76,000 euros were allocated to install safety flooring in the playgrounds of the CEIP Sierra Bermeja, Valeriano López, Nuestra Señora del Carmen, and Gloria Fuertes preschools, as well as at the El Mar Municipal Preschool. 

The councilwoman also highlighted the 130,000-euro investment made by the City Council through the Climate Control Plan, which is improving classroom conditions by installing approximately 100 air conditioning and heating units.  

With this ambitious investment plan, according to Councilwoman María Aguilar, the City Council is taking another step forward in its commitment to the continuous improvement of educational spaces, promoting initiatives that will have a positive impact for decades to come and that reflect the city’s commitment to providing public schools of the highest quality.
