The City Council puts out to tender the management and operation of the Felipe VI Theater Auditorium

The new concessionaire will program the cultural agenda of this facility for the next three years with high quality activities.
The Estepona City Council reports that it has put out to tender the management of the Felipe VI Theater-Auditorium to continue offering a varied and quality cultural program. The new concessionaire will be responsible for exploiting this facility for leisure and culture for the next three years.
The specifications governing the tender states that the programming will consist of, among others, stage performances such as theater, dance, comedies, operas, operettas and others; musical performances such as concerts or recitals; training activities; film screenings; and activities in the congress sector.
Specifically, in the case of activities associated with the performing arts, music and others, the project submitted by the interested parties must include at least 20 activities during the calendar year, which must include: performing arts for children and youth (at least 6 per year), circus (at least 1 per year), dance (at least 1 per year), theater (at least 6 per year), opera (at least 4 per year, of which at least 2 will be opera), classical music concerts (at least 2 per year) and musicals (at least 2 per year).
The City Council reserves for its own direct management programming a minimum of 20 events each year.
In the awarding process, in addition to the improvement in the fee, other aspects related to the programming of the auditorium and training will be taken into account. Thus, points will be awarded based on the number and cache of renowned artists per year (minimum 3). Improvements in the number of days offered for municipal events will also be valued, as well as for the implementation of a stable cinema program (with at least two shows per week throughout the year). Likewise, more points will be awarded to offers that contemplate the implementation of theater and/or dance courses, at least between the months of October to May of each year, with a minimum of two hours per week.
The contract under bidding covers the management and administration of the Auditorium-Theater during the entire period of execution of the contract, set at three years without the possibility of extension. This includes all the services and costs derived from the technical assistance necessary for the development of the stage and non-stage activity programmed, both by the contractor and by the Estepona Town Hall on the days assigned to it, as well as the maintenance of the facilities and specific stage equipment of the facilities themselves.
Regarding the exploitation of the equipment, it includes the free disposal of the two halls throughout the year for the programming and contracting of all kinds of shows, recreational activities and similar cultural activities; the occasional leasing of the facilities for holding congresses, conferences, exhibitions, presentations, workshops and other similar uses; as well as the exploitation of the cafeteria service.
The Felipe VI Theater-Auditorium was inaugurated in March 2015 and has become a benchmark on the Costa del Sol for hosting events, conventions, concerts and top-level performances. The building has a total built area of 5,500 square meters. It has a main hall with capacity for approximately 600 people and a stage of 225 square meters, with a simultaneous translation system that allows the celebration of international congresses. The secondary hall, with folding bleachers for 100 people, can be used as a rehearsal room, for chamber music or exhibitions.
The building also has a semi-covered outdoor plaza that can be used as an open-air exhibition space or stage for cultural activities.
