The City Council will inaugurate the Plaza Virgen del Rocío on March 15 after its complete remodeling.
The work, included in the project for the renovation of Terraza Street, has turned this enclave of the historic center into a more open and accessible space. The official ceremony will feature a rociera party with live performances.
The Estepona City Council informs that the integral remodeling of the Plaza Virgen del Rocío will be officially inaugurated on March 15. The event, which will highlight the new aesthetics and accessibility of this enclave, will feature a rociera party with live music.
The comprehensive remodeling of the square, included in the renovation project of Terraza Street, has turned this emblematic space into a more open and accessible area as a meeting point, while it has managed to give greater visibility to the sculpture dedicated to the Virgen del Rocío.
The surrounding area now has areas where pedestrians can rest and enjoy the wide pedestrian spaces thanks to the modification of the pavement, which has unified the levels of the street, creating a continuity along its route. The area has also had its water supply and drainage infrastructure renewed and new street lighting installed.
The Consistory has sought to enhance the value of this central square, which is one of the most visited points in the historic center. With this enclave dedicated to the Virgen Rocío, the town wanted to recognize the work done throughout the year by the Hermandad del Rocío de Estepona and, at the same time, the ties that unite the town with Almonte after the twinning of the two municipalities.
The official inauguration of the remodeling of the square will take place on Saturday, March 15, from 13.00 hours. The event will feature a rociera party with performances by Monica Garrido, the group Los piratas flamencos, the Choir of the Brotherhood of El Rocío de Estepona and DJ Michael Thin.
