Estepona City Council awards the installation of solar street lights in six streets in the outskirts of the city as part of its efficient lighting plan.

The project, with an investment of 118,116 euros, is part of the municipal plan for efficient lighting, which will soon be extended to seven other roads.
The Estepona City Council informs that it has awarded the works for the installation of solar street lights in the streets Rosalía de Castro, Vereda de los Frailes, Camomila, Menta, Aloe and Velerín-Hospitén road, located in suburban areas.
The action has been awarded to the company A7GR Servicios y Obras, for an amount of 118,116.85 euros. After this first award, the City Council will continue installing solar street lights in seven other streets: Caserío, Tolox, Alquería, Quintana, Masía, urbanization Cortijo Casareño and Padre Luis García Cerezo. This second tender will be resolved in the next few days.
These interventions are part of the municipal plan for the improvement and modernization of public lighting, which aims to provide different areas of the city with efficient, sustainable and energy-efficient lighting systems, using solar technology and LED luminaires. The project for these first 13 streets includes the installation of 247 solar streetlights, with a base bidding budget of 250,000 euros.
This initiative aims to improve visibility and safety in residential and peri-urban areas, while reducing energy demand and electricity billing costs. In addition, it advances the municipal commitment to energy efficiency and sustainability.
The Deputy Mayor for Services and External Control, Blas Ruzafa, stressed that "this project is another step in an ambitious plan of efficient lighting that will extend the lighting to different parts of the municipality, prioritizing sustainable solutions such as autonomous solar streetlights".
In parallel, the Consistory is already working on new actions planned for this year and next year, currently under study, with the aim of continuing to expand the network of efficient lighting throughout the municipality.
