On October 21, the library's book club will put the spotlight on one of the most talked-about European publishing phenomena of recent years: 'The Anomaly' by Hervé Le Tellier.
One of the most awaited moments of the month will come on October 23, with the awarding of the V International Poetry Prize Ciudad de Estepona. During the ceremony, the winning work, 'Anidan Minerales', by the poet Julia Viejo, will be presented. The day will culminate with a concert by Abraham Boba, vocalist of the band Leon Benavente, in a day that promises to unite word and emotion in its purest form.
For the more curious public, on October 24, Jordi Moltó, responsible for the psychological experiments of the television program 'El Hormiguero', will share the ins and outs of the program's viral videos, in a meeting moderated by journalist Paco Reyero.
The October agenda ends on the 28th with a tribute to Robert Redford, and on the 30th with the children's workshop "A treasure full of words".
November starts with the presentation of the book 'Calle de la hipótesis', by Francisco García Castro, and on the 11th a tribute will be paid to the German director Rainer Werner Fassbinder, in the year he would have turned 80 years old.
On November 13, the children's workshop 'A treasure full of words' returns, and on November 15, artist Sonia Salmerón will give an illustration and engraving workshop entitled 'Techniques for narrating without words'.
On November 18, the library's reading club will dive into 'Claus and Lucas', by Agota Kristof. The following day, poet Angelo Nestore will lead a creative writing workshop entitled 'Everything will be field: planting ideas, watering words'. The author will present his new book 'Leche Cruda' (Raw Milk) on the 20th.
One of the most special dates this year will be November 27, when the Library's first anniversary will be celebrated with a meeting with the writer Elvira Lindo, one of the great names in Spanish fiction, and a concert by Alondra Bentley.
In December, the finishing touch will be provided by the Argentine writer Pedro Mairal, who will present his acclaimed novel 'La Uruguaya' on the 16th. On the 17th, journalist and poet Braulio Ortiz Poole will offer a workshop on cultural journalism under the title 'A calm shore in a troubled river', and on the 18th he will close the quarter with the presentation of his book 'Men who say hallelujah'.
All these activities will be free of charge and admission will be free until full capacity is reached. For the courses and workshops it will be necessary to register in advance by sending an e-mail to: bcc@estepona.es.
Consolidated cultural space
Since its inauguration in November 2024, the Library of Contemporary Cultures has established itself as one of the most innovative cultural projects in the province. In less than a year it has brought together thousands of visitors, welcomed leading figures in literature, film, music and art, and shaped a program that is committed to critical thinking, interdisciplinary creation and free access to culture.
With an open look to the future, the Estepona City Council is already preparing new cycles, an ambitious children's agenda and the next edition of the Estepona Literary Festival (FLEST), which will once again turn the city into a cultural meeting point.
