The City Council and Horizonte-Proyecto Hombre organize a new edition of the School for Families to address the emotional education of young people.

This free activity begins next Tuesday, October 14 and will last until December 16. Ten sessions will be held at the Padre Manuel Cultural Center.

The Estepona City Council and the Horizonte-Proyecto Hombre association will start next Tuesday, October 14, the fifteenth edition of the activity ‘School of Families’, an initiative coordinated by the municipal delegation of Youth aimed at fathers, mothers, relatives and educators interested in addressing common issues in the process of maturation and education of young people.

The program is totally free and is structured in 10 didactic sessions that will be held weekly between October 14 and December 16, at the Padre Manuel Cultural Center, from 17.00 to 19.00 hours. The sessions will be dynamic, participative and adapted to the needs of the group and will be given by professionals specialized in prevention from the Horizonte-Proyecto Hombre association.

The objective is to help families to manage their children’s emotional education and behavioral risks. Thus, the topics of the sessions will offer them tools to manage the difficulties that often arise when dealing with family rules, communication, conflict resolution, self-esteem and social skills or emotional intelligence.

Thus, the first session will be held next Tuesday, October 14, and will focus on how we act in the face of our children’s problems or difficulties: on October 21, the appointment will deal with how to reduce and control emotional tension; and on October 28, on how to manage family rules. The sessions will continue on November 4 with the topic of family communication; on November 11 we will learn how to resolve conflicts; on November 18 it will be the turn of self-esteem and social skills; and on November 25 the talk will be ‘Educating in Emotional Intelligence’. We will continue on December 2 dealing with the period of ‘Adolescence: guidelines for family action’; December 9 will be the theme ‘Healthy habits in the use of social networks and new technologies’; and finally on December 16 the sessions will close with the theme ‘Learn about drugs and their effects on the body’.
