The City Council awards the works for the redevelopment and improvement of the main communication routes of Cancelada

The project will be executed in phases and will affect Mirador, Marqués del Duero and Montemayor streets.
The Estepona City Council has awarded the works for the redevelopment and improvement of three of the main roads in the neighborhood of Cancelada. This intervention will be carried out in phases and will transform the streets Mirador, Marqués del Duero and Montemayor.
The initiative follows the path of the improvement works that are being carried out in the streets of the urban fabric of Estepona, modifying its conception to adapt its design to more pedestrian roads, while replacing and modernizing infrastructure and services.
With this intervention, for which a dozen bids were submitted by interested companies, the needs presented by each of the project's roads will be addressed in order to subsequently proceed with the reorganization of spaces, pedestrian and traffic. In addition to the new paving, the planned works include the renovation of the supply, drainage, rainwater and lighting networks of the streets and their connections with the adjacent ones.
The work has been awarded for 2,951,493 million euros, which has meant a significant reduction in the base bid price, which was set at 3,476,844 million euros. The execution period has also been reduced to just over a year.
As for the new projected configuration, Mirador Street will have a one-way traffic flow to the south, and Marqués del Duero, also a one-way flow to the north.
The work has been programmed in phases, so that the works in each of them do not coincide with the rest, and includes in phase 1 the widening and sidewalk works on Mirador Avenue, the redevelopment of Marqués del Duero in phase 2, and the redevelopment of Montemayor in phase 3. The City Council has opted for a joint contracting of the works to the same company but in a phased manner, so that the execution of the second or third work does not begin until the previous one has been completed in its entirety and the End of Work Certificate has been issued, so that each road can fulfill its function of passage and service.
