The City Council begins its plan for the renovation and improvement of playgrounds in the urban and suburban areas.

The project, which involves an investment of more than 700,000 euros, contemplates a comprehensive intervention for the replacement and modernization of some twenty facilities.
The Estepona City Council reports that it has begun its plan for the renovation and improvement of municipal playgrounds located both in the urban core and in the outlying areas. The aim of this project is to modernize and put in perfect condition of use and safety these spaces for the leisure of the little ones.
The initiative contemplates the intervention in enclosures in which it is going to proceed to the replacement of the elements of play and security that are in poor condition, for others of higher quality, more modern and adapted to the needs of the little ones.
The works have started in the one located in Santiago Apóstol street and continue in the ones located in Parque del Ángel and Plaza del Ajedrez. To these actions must be added the playground that was recently inaugurated in the Daniel Casares square.
The plan to improve these playgrounds will continue over the next few weeks in the following locations: Cancelada nursery, Plaza de las Nieves (Cancelada), Tenencia de Alcaldía de Isdabe, Blas Infante (Picasso neighborhood), Espronceda, Plaza Pescadores, Altos de Guadalobón (Local Police Park), Avenida de Andalucía with Avenida San Lorenzo, Jardín de la Vega, Parque de El Abuelo, National Police (in Terraza street), Recinto Ferial, Plaza de la Comunicación, Plaza de la Concordia (Isdabe), Concha Espina, and Congreso.
The project was awarded for 745,254 euros (VAT included) and will have an execution period of six months. The selected bid presented a significant reduction in the base bid price, which was set at 1.1 million. It also proposes creative and functional designs with a wide range of adapted or inclusive games in each of the areas and a diversity of them for the use of a wide range of ages and users.
The initiative contemplates the replacement of the protective surfaces formed by rubber tiles measuring 100 x 100 x 4.5 centimeters with 4-centimeter-thick continuous rubber safety pavements. In addition, the playground equipment in poor condition that can be repaired will be removed and transported to the City Hall warehouse to be used as spare parts in other elements if possible.
The urban furniture elements that interfere with the works, such as litter garbage cans or benches, stored on site, will also be removed and subsequently relocated within the children’s area or in its immediate vicinity.
The new sets of games or isolated elements included in the budget will be installed, locating them according to the safety area required and indicated by the manufacturer. Finally, in those areas that do not have a perimeter safety area, an enclosure consisting of colored metal fences 90 centimeters high will be installed.
