The City Council carries out improvement actions in nursery schools with an investment of more than 35,000 euros.

The Consistory has carried out during the non-school summer period interventions in painting, locksmithing, carpentry, plumbing, works and gardening. The course starts today with the novelty of free of charge for 2 year old students.

The City Council of Estepona has invested about 35,000 euros in improvement work in nursery schools in the municipality, which have been developed during the non-school period of the summer months. The mayor of Estepona, José María García Urbano, and the councilor attached to the area of Education, María Aguilar, have visited the school Los Pitufos to inaugurate the new course for which a total of 371 places have been offered.

Among the actions carried out are tasks of carpentry, locksmithing, painting, plumbing, or gardening executed both by the Municipal Brigades and by specialized companies in the case of larger works. Thus, among other interventions, the interior of the Cancelada Nursery School has been painted, where it is planned that during this first quarter the entire exterior area of the facilities will be painted. Likewise, new laminate flooring has been installed in the blue classroom of this same center.

As for the furniture, an investment of 8,000 euros has been made to meet the needs of all nursery schools. Another of the most outstanding actions has been the repair of the rubber flooring in the Calancha school, as highlighted by María Aguilar.

The improvements have been made in all the nursery schools: Cancelada, Calancha, Los Pitufos, El Nido and El Mar, as well as in the Gloria Fuertes Nursery School. In addition to the specific programmed works, a general review of electricity, plumbing, carpentry, locksmithing and gardening has been carried out in all the centers.

The mayor, José María García Urbano, has highlighted during the visit to the School Los Pitufos the effort that the City Council is made each year for the development of maintenance work of all schools in the municipality, actions that are executed during non-school periods throughout the year.

This year the nursery schools in Estepona offer a total of 371 places, of which about 80% have been covered. Among the novelties this new course 2025-2026 highlights the extension of the free for two year olds.
