The City Council includes the Plaza Estandarte in the neighborhood plan for its comprehensive reform

The Consistory will put out to tender the works to recover this disused public space as a meeting point, playground and rest area.
The Estepona City Council continues to work on the comprehensive remodeling plan of neighborhoods of the municipality, which has included the recovery of the Plaza Estandarte, in the area of Tres Banderas, for its enhancement and citizen enjoyment.
The action, for which the tender will be opened in the coming days to contract the corresponding works, takes into account the current obsolete state in which this space is located with the idea of proceeding to its transformation and modernization. The project envisages providing this public square with furniture, shaded areas, landscaping and children’s games, as well as a new lighting network. In short, the aim is to completely transform an open square, practically in disuse, into a place for rest, meeting and games.
The Deputy Mayor of Infrastructure, Ana Velasco, explains that this action is part of the plan being developed by the Consistory in traditional neighborhoods for adaptation to current neighborhood demands.
For this intervention has been set an initial budget of 397,000 euros, although the final amount will be established in the award of the works based on the lowest economic offer that is most advantageous to the City Council.
Recently the Consistory has contracted the drafting of three ambitious projects for the redevelopment and remodeling of neighborhoods. Specifically, work is being carried out on three initiatives. One of them, in the neighborhood of Tres Banderas, which will affect more than a dozen streets and squares, and includes the renovation of pavement, street furniture, infrastructure and landscaping. The other two comprise the integral remodeling of the surroundings of the Orquidario, Avenida Andalucía, and Plaza del Ajedrez, on the one hand; and the redevelopment of Valencia, Formentera, Cabrera and Conejera streets, on the other.
The neighborhood plan will also reach Cancelada, where the redevelopment and improvement of the streets Marqués del Duero, Montemayor and Mirador avenue will be carried out.
