The City Council increases the budget for public transportation services and will reinforce controls to ensure compliance with transit schedules.

The new contract contemplates a renovation of vehicles, which will have a greater passenger capacity

The Estepona City Council has increased the financial allocation for public transport, with the aim of taking a new step in improving the service. In addition, controls will be strengthened to ensure compliance with the schedules of passage of vehicles.

The Consistory has renewed for one year the concession contract with the company Avanza, for an amount of 697,634 euros. The three lines that have been operating until now are maintained: Avenida Litoral-Beverly Hills (with access to the industrial estate from Monday to Friday working hours, from 7.20 am to 6.30 pm); the one that connects Avenida Juan Carlos I-Hospital-Bermuda Beach (Avenida Costa Galera), with daily access to the hospital; and the Estepona-Cruce Benahavís, ending at the Town Hall. The complete timetables and routes can be consulted on the Avanza website: https://malaga.avanzagrupo.com/es/transporte-urbano-de-estepona

As a novelty, route vehicles will be replaced by others of larger size and number of seats, which will start operating in a few weeks. As stipulated in the contract, the concessionary company is responsible for the complete maintenance or replacement of the vehicles, as well as the management of complaints and suggestions from users.

For its part, the City Council will reinforce the controls it deems necessary to ensure that the service is being provided with the highest quality. These controls consist of inspections of specific services, controls at strategic points on the routes, verification of data and surveys of users of the service, either with its own personnel or with a company contracted for this purpose.

The Consistory is already working on the preparation of a tender for the next concession, which will be for a longer period and for a higher amount, with the aim of improving the service to meet the rising demand resulting from the population growth experienced by the city.
