The City Council installs a walkway that improves mobility and accessibility between the Blas Infante and Picasso neighborhoods

The works, which are valued at more than 35,000 euros, make it possible to bridge a 3.5 meter difference in level in these neighborhoods that prevented the transit of people with reduced mobility.

The Estepona City Council informs that it is installing a footbridge to eliminate the main architectural barrier in the neighborhoods of Blas Infante and Picasso.

With the aim of improving mobility and accessibility in these neighborhoods, the Consistory has begun to install a metal ramp 50 meters long, designed to bridge the current gap of 3.5 meters and join in its upper part to both enclaves. The work will also improve the connection between the CEIP Sierra Bermeja, the children’s playground and the Bello Horizonte neighborhood.

Once the work is completed, a more comfortable and safer transit will be guaranteed for people with reduced mobility, the elderly and families who have to travel with baby carriages.

The work includes demolition and foundation work, as well as the installation of metal structures and safety elements. The materials used include structural steel profiles, metal tubes, plates and reinforcement plates, as well as subsequent treatment and anti-corrosion painting to ensure the durability of the infrastructure.

In the development of this work, which represents an investment of more than 35,000 euros, specialized locksmiths are involved, as well as painters for finishing and protection of the metal structures.

With this intervention, the Consistory continues to advance in its commitment to modernize public spaces and improve accessibility in the neighborhoods of the municipality, betting on actions that increase the quality of life of residents and promote safer and more functional urban environments.
