The City Council opens registration for the second cycle of free workshops in Gardening, Electricity, Plumbing and Masonry.

Interested parties must pick up the application form at the Municipal Delegation of Social Services at 31 San Lorenzo Avenue and submit it filled out at the City Hall’s Registry Office.

The City Council of Estepona informs that the registration period for the second cycle of free workshops in Gardening, Electricity, Plumbing and Masonry, aimed at young people between 16 and 24 years old who have not completed training cycles or who are unemployed, is now open.

To participate in these training courses interested parties must pick up the application form at the municipal delegation of Social Services which is located at Avenida San Lorenzo 31 and deliver it duly completed at the Town Hall’s Registry Office.

In the course of the year the Consistory offers three cycles of these workshops, each of which runs for three months. During these periods the students receive 250 hours of training, both theoretical and practical. The latter are carried out in the concessionary companies of the different municipal services, an initiative that allows the students to get in touch with the working world and learn how to solve the incidents and real situations that usually arise in the performance of their profession. In addition, they broaden their knowledge by doing social work, carrying out actions at the headquarters of local associations, always under the supervision of a professional.

In addition, students attending the Gardening workshop are trained in the application of phytosanitary products, an essential qualification for working in this profession. The learning process is completed with information and guidance for the search for employment and informative talks on drug prevention, occupational hazards and fires in the home, as well as recreational and sports activities.

Annually, the City Council trains almost fifty young people in one of these professions that are so in demand today, of which a large number manage to access the labor market. In this regard, it should be noted the success of these workshops among local companies, which increasingly demand the hiring of these young people who attend our workshops, by the level of preparation with which they complete the training.
