The City Council opens the registration period for the contest ‘Burning of the Mustaches of San Juan’.

The ‘Quemas’ can be registered until June 13 at the General Register of the City Council, and will be set on fire on Monday, June 23, at La Rada Beach, at 00:00 hours, at the beginning of the Night of San Juan.
Estepona City Council reports that until June 13 will remain open the registration period to participate in the XLV Contest ‘Burning of the Mustaches of San Juan’, to be held on June 23 at the beach of La Rada.
According to the rules of this local contest, available at Sede Electrónica, the Councillor for Festivities Macarena Diánez, has announced that all natural and legal persons, brotherhoods, fraternities and neighborhood associations who wish to participate may do so. Participants must previously provide the sketches of the design of the Burning in the municipal delegation of Festivals, in the e-mail: fiestas @estepona.es
Registrations will be made by Register of Entry at the Town Hall, from May 12 to June 13, 2025, inclusive.
All the Burns presented to the contest will be installed in the area delimited by the Town Hall, in La Rada Beach. The motif of the Burn, as well as the dimensions, will be of free choice. Will not be admitted to the contest those designs that violate the right to honor, personal and family privacy, or those that are disrespectful to religious beliefs and / or sexual condition of people.
The municipal delegation of Festivities has established the following prizes for the best Burns: First Prize, 1,000 € + trophy; Second Prize, 750 € + Trophy; Third Prize, 500 € + Trophy, and fourth, fifth and sixth prize, 300 € each, amounts expressed in gross.
The jury, which will be composed of the Councillor for Festivities or person delegated by her, acting as members a member of each registered Quema, not being able to vote on their proposal, will visit each of the Quemas from 21:00 hours. Prizes will be awarded for the theme of the Quema, artistic quality, ingenuity, tradition, humor and originality, and the atmosphere and popularity of the Quema.
The Quemas participating in the contest will be set on fire from 00:00 hours, at the beginning of the Night of San Juan.
The City Council reserves the possibility of pardoning any of the Quemas presented to the contest, which by its uniqueness is likely to be used in any other municipal event.
