The City Council organizes a program of activities to celebrate Foreign Residents Day

The event will be held this Saturday, April 26, from 12.00 to 20.00 hours in the Calvario Park, and will feature the participation of more than twenty stands of foreign groups from different countries, which will present their gastronomy, crafts and traditions.
Estepona City Council reports that this Saturday, April 26, will be held a new edition of the Foreign Resident Day, which will take place from 12.00 to 20.00 hours in the Calvario Park. The event, organized by the Consistory, will feature the participation of twenty-five stands of foreign groups that will show the typical products of each country.
The deputy mayor of the Extraradio area, Begoña Ortíz, said that the aim of this annual event is to strengthen ties and promote coexistence among citizens of different nationalities residing in Estepona, in addition to learning about the culture of each of the participating countries.
Also, the municipal responsible has stressed that this activity is a unique opportunity to taste the typical cuisine and purchase handicrafts of the countries present at this event, such as Belgium, Hungary, Italy, Malta, Nordic countries, United Kingdom, Romania, Ukraine, Morocco, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Paraguay, Uruguay and Venezuela. In addition, this year we welcome Germany, Switzerland, Poland, Ecuador and France.
Also, as reported by the mayor, the stand of Spain will offer the richness of our cuisine and culture, with performances by three local dance schools such as La Milana, Ana Guerrero and Marví Dominguez and Claudia Ramirez ‘La Maravilla’. There will be information tables of AREME, Gatos y Amigos, AECC and the Official Language School.
This year the recognition of the ‘Foreign Resident of the Year’ will go to Johnny Cuellar representative of Bolivia, Carlos Stieffel of Argentina and Teresa Rocio Mateos Torras of Mexico, for the work they do in the foreign community and their participation after two decades in the ‘Foreign Resident Day’ and ‘Sweet Christmas Gathering’.
For this open day a cultural program has been designed with performances by different artists representing their countries, as well as dance academies of Estepona.

In addition, this event adds another new initiative promoted by the City Council to promote the integration and participation of foreign residents, it is the program ‘Sharing Cultures’, an important annual project that seeks to publicize the various customs, festivals and cuisine of the foreign population.
