The City Council presents a wide-ranging program for LGTBIQ+ Pride to be held from June 15 to 20

The activities, organized jointly with the drags Débora Men and La Camacha, include exhibitions, workshops, cinema, talks and a large protest parade on June 20.

Estepona City Council today presented the events organized on the occasion of the International Day of LGTBIQ+ Pride, to be held from 15 to 20 June, extending this year’s programming to five days of cultural, vindictive and festive activities organized jointly between the Consistory and the drags Debora Men and La Camacha.

The councilor attached to the area of Citizen Participation, Maria Aguilar, and the organizers of the event have unveiled the full program of this edition will feature exhibitions, literature, workshops, film, lectures and a grand finale celebration in defense of diversity, equality and the rights of the group. The mayor stressed the importance of continuing to promote initiatives that promote respect, equality and visibility of the LGTBIQ+ collective, and encouraged neighbors and visitors to participate in an ‘open, diverse and designed to celebrate coexistence and freedom’ program.

The activities will begin on Monday, June 15, at 20:00 hours, with the opening of two exhibitions at the Adult School: an art exhibition by José Larios and another entitled ‘The Root of Pride’.

The program will continue on Wednesday, June 17, at 8:00 p.m., with the literary presentation of the book ‘El Reflejo de los que fuimos’, by Ángel Rovira, also at the Adult School.

On Thursday, June 18, a banner workshop will be held, from 19:00 to 22:00 hours, at the School of Adults, in preparation for the day of protest and celebration on Saturday.

The activities will continue on Friday, June 19 with a LGTBIQ+ themed talk on the principles of transformism, which will take place at 20:00 at the Adult School. Later, at 22:00 hours, the film ‘Pride’ will be screened at the Orquidario Park.

The final touch will come on Saturday June 20 with the traditional protest parade, which will start at 19:00 hours from the Orchidarium and will cross Terraza Street, Plaza de las Gaviotas, promenade, Spain Avenue, Santa Anta Street, Villa Street and the back of City Hall to reach the Plaza del Reloj.

At 20:00 hours is scheduled to arrive at the square, where at 20:15 hours will take place the raising of the flag. Subsequently, at 20:20 hours, will be held the proclamation by Aurora ‘Charlie’.

The day will conclude with a big Pride party that will begin at 8:30 pm and will last until midnight, turning the Plaza del Reloj into a space of celebration, visibility and coexistence.
