The City Council reinforces the pest control service with more personnel and expands work throughout the year.

The disinsection and rat extermination campaign is carried out in different areas, both in the city center and in the outskirts, and covers 426 kilometers of the sewerage network.

The Estepona City Council informs that the disinfestation and rat extermination campaign, which is carried out annually with the aim of eliminating rodent and insect pests, has been strengthened with the addition of a new team of operators. In addition, this service extends its work program to three campaigns, which will allow it to be active throughout the year.

The Consistory has highlighted the need for this reinforcement, since this campaign is one of the most important that are undertaken each year in the municipality for reasons of cleanliness, hygiene and public health. Thus, although these tasks are carried out during the twelve months, in the summer season the disinfestation is intensified and the rest of the months the rat extermination.

Of these works the concessionary company of the water supply service in the city, Hidralia, is in charge and acts in the 426 kilometers of the municipal sewer network, in the more than 20,000 manholes and in the 10,573 scuppers registered in the city.

The work, which is carried out by zones and sectors, including urban and suburban areas, to facilitate the management of treatments with bocides (substances for disinfection), is carried out early in the morning in the most central streets and commercial areas, so that the daily activity of individuals and businesses is interrupted as little as possible.

In addition to the Annual Plan of Pest Control and Rodent Control, Hidralia performs throughout the year a monitoring of the incidents detected in the municipality, as well as suggestions and complaints received from neighbors.
