The City Council tenders two plots for the construction of 199 subsidized housing units in the Camino de Cortes Norte area.

The Consistory will prioritize as award criteria the lowest final price for buyers of these homes. On the other hand, the Municipal Plenary approved yesterday the bonus of the license for the construction of another 117 VPO (divided into two promotions of 84 and 33 homes) in the area of Camino de Cortes.

The Estepona City Council informs that today has been published the tender for two municipal plots for the construction of 199 subsidized housing (VPO) in the area of Camino de Cortes.

With this procedure begins the disposal of these municipal soils where two promotions of VPO have been projected, one of 160 homes and another of 39 homes. The specifications state that the contracting board will prioritize the lowest final price for the buyers of these homes as the award criterion.

Entities interested in acquiring these plots for the promotion of public housing may submit their proposals until June 8. All information is available at the Electronic Headquarters of the City of Estepona.

On the other hand, the municipal plenary approved yesterday the bonus of the license to build a total of another 117 VPO (divided into two promotions of 84 and 33 homes), in the area of Camino de Cortes.

In addition to these actions, the Consistory approved in the last February Plenary Session the compatibility of use for a total of 36 municipal plots that may be used for the construction of subsidized housing. This has been possible thanks to the adhesion of the City Council to the Decree-Law 1/2025 of urgent measures on housing, approved by the Junta de Andalucía, to promote the construction of VPO. Based on the parameters set out in the General Urban Development Plan (PGOU) of Estepona, a total of 738 homes could be built on the aforementioned land, which is distributed throughout the municipality.

The Estepona City Council also agreed to make available to the central government six municipal plots with capacity for the construction of 109 subsidized housing units. These are plots of land with uses compatible with subsidized housing projects located in areas such as Casas del Padrón, Llanos de la Boladilla and Camino de Cortes. The municipal proposal is a response to the announcement made by the

23,000 million euros in public and private funds to boost the housing supply and finance the construction of 15,000 units per year in Spain through the ‘España Crece’ fund.

Likewise, the City Council continues to work on other urban development projects that will allow the construction of 300 VPOs in Camino de Monterroso and another 800 in the Guadalobón and Arroyo Vaquero areas.

With all these actions, to which must be added the 100 VPOs that were completed four years ago in the Juan Benítez development, the government team shows its interest in promoting housing for those sectors of the population with lower income levels, which are finding it more difficult to access free housing.
