The City Council will offer a garbage tax rebate to residents who deposit waste at the clean point to promote recycling

It will be necessary to make a minimum of three deliveries per year of garbage for which there are no containers on the public road. At each delivery, the user will receive a receipt that must be presented during the first quarter of 2026 to the Patronato de Recaudacion requesting the reduction in the bill.

The Estepona City Council announces that it will apply a rebate on the garbage fee to residents who deposit waste at the city’s clean point. This is included in the municipal ordinance that regulates the service of collection and treatment of solid urban waste, which has recently included measures to minimize the effects of the increase imposed by the Government. The garbage fee is adapted to Law 7/2022 of the central government, which requires that the taxpayers pay for the collection, deposit and subsequent incineration of waste in the treatment plants.

In order to ensure that the new ‘tasazo’ of the central government has the minimum impact on citizens, while complying with it, one of the measures to be applied by the City Council is a reduction of 3% on the full amount of the fee to those taxpayers who deposit in an authorized clean point, a minimum of three times a year, admissible waste for which there are no containers on the public highway. This also contributes to recycling and the protection of the environment.

In order for this reduction to be applied, the interested party must apply annually during the first quarter of the tax period, and present the documentation that reports on the deposits made during the previous year. This will be done at the headquarters of the Patronato de Recaudación Provincial (C/ Luis Braille, Puertosol building). In this sense, it will be necessary to present the existing standardized application form, a copy of the receipt of the Waste Collection Tax of the previous year, and a copy of the receipts of each deposit, which will be delivered at the clean point in each contribution made.

The Punto Limpio of Estepona is located on Pinsapo Street, on the way up to Los Reales. There you can bring waste for which there are no containers on public roads. This is the case of mattresses, electrical and computer equipment, X-rays or oils, among others. The objective of this clean point is to collect and catalog these wastes in order to manage them responsibly and respectfully with the environment. It also avoids the uncontrolled dumping of bulky waste that cannot be disposed of by conventional waste collection services, and separates hazardous waste for specialized treatment, in accordance with existing regulations. It also contributes to raising public awareness of the importance of caring for the environment.

The City Council encourages citizens to deposit this type of waste in this center, thus contributing to recycling, environmental protection and public health.

The Punto Limpio of Estepona currently has summer hours and is open in the morning, Monday to Friday, from 9:00 to 14:00 hours; and on Saturdays, from 9:00 to 13:00 hours. It will be closed in the afternoons.

From September 22, the winter schedule is as follows: Monday to Saturday: 10:00 to 14:00 hours. In the afternoon, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., except Tuesdays and Saturdays.
