The Estepona City Council thanks the Red Cross for its work in assisting more than 900 people over the past year

At a press conference, the organization outlined 15,726 social initiatives and the work carried out in areas such as inclusion, senior citizens, immigration, and gender-based violence

María Aguilar, the council member assigned to the Citizen Participation Department; and the president of the Estepona Red Cross Local Assembly, Enrique García, today presented the Estepona Red Cross Annual Report, highlighting its work in social inclusion, care for the elderly, youth, children, immigration, and gender-based violence.

The municipal official reported that over the past year, the organization has assisted 921 people and carried out 15,726 social interventions. These figures reflect “the effort, solidarity, dedication, and great altruistic work carried out by these men and women in their service to the most vulnerable.”

In addition, the councilor expressed her gratitude for this outstanding work and emphasized how much of a priority it is for the City Council to support the Red Cross, as well as all organizations that provide services and develop programs for the citizens who need them most.

Likewise, María Aguilar outlined the various initiatives the City Council is undertaking to help these organizations continue implementing their programs to assist these citizens, such as direct financial aid granted annually, the provision of premises for use as headquarters and of municipal facilities for holding charity events, tax support, and collaboration in the charitable events they organize.

For his part, the president of the Red Cross Local Assembly in Estepona, Enrique García, stated that 2025 has been marked by the efforts of volunteers and by the move to the new headquarters, which has been operational for a month. In this regard, he noted that the new address is 10 Mar y Sierra Avenue, where they will assist all users in need of Red Cross services.

As he explained, the Estepona headquarters has 112 volunteers who have contributed 21,678 hours of work, supported by 1,184 members. He thanked them for their dedication and effort in each of the areas where they have been active, the main ones being health, social inclusion, employment, education, seniors, immigration and refugee services, and emergencies. In addition, he emphasized that 70% of member contributions go directly to service users, while the remainder is allocated to purchasing necessary materials and supplies.

In this regard, the Estepona Red Cross assisted 458 elderly people, 239 in situations of extreme vulnerability, 135 immigrants and refugees, 303 in the health sector, 78 participants in employment programs, and 67 people in training initiatives in 2025.

Furthermore, the organization has highlighted its presence in Estepona, Casares, and Manilva, collaborating with public administrations, businesses, and social organizations to improve the quality of life for the most vulnerable people.
