The Estepona City Council will offer more than a hundred cultural and leisure activities for all audiences during the summer months.

The Boombastic Festival joins the program where music plays a special role with different classical, flamenco and lyrical competitions, as well as Nacho Cano’s ‘Malinche Symphonic’.
La Noche en Blanco will be dedicated to young people and commemorate 30 years of the Book Fair.
The Estepona City Council has designed one more year a complete program of cultural and leisure activities, aimed at all audiences, which will take place during the summer months. Concerts, festivals of different musical styles, theater and popular festivals, among many others, make up the Summer Cultural Agenda that includes more than a hundred events.
The councilor delegate of Culture and Festivities, Macarena Diánez, today presented the full program, which will start this Friday June 27 with the second edition of the Literary Festival of Estepona (FLEST), which will run from 27 to 29 June.
One of the great novelties of the summer in Estepona will be the celebration of the Boombastic Festival Costa del Sol, from July 24 to 26. Artists of the stature of Melendi, Saiko, Steve Aoki, Trueno, Tiago PZK and many more, will attend this great musical event of the summer in Estepona, which has exceeded all expectations since its announcement.
One more year, will have special prominence in the summer programming concerts offered by the Municipal Band. They will be every Sunday from July 20. Among them, Diánez has highlighted the performance that will close the season on August 24 and will again feature the singer Serafin Zubiri, with a special dedicated to Miguel Rios.
The comedy will have a very important space in the programming, with shows to be held in the Plaza de Toros, as the monologue ‘I do not get angry, but it gives me courage’ with Manolo Morera; or ‘Mission Impro-Sible’, with Aguilera and Mení.
The Summer Book Fair will be another of the attractions of the Paseo Marítimo. A cultural option that celebrates 30 years, whose main feature is that 90 percent of the books do not exceed five euros in price. It will be open to the public from July 18 to September 14.
As for cinema, this year repeats the successful Summer Cinema series, with free screenings of eight recently released films, such as ‘Kung Fu Panda 4’, ‘The Specialist’, ‘Buffalo Kids’, or ‘Gru 4. My favorite villain’, among others.
In addition, the Estepona Town Hall and the Unicorn Cultural Association will commemorate from August 4 the 50th anniversary of the film ‘Jaws’, by Steven Spielberg, with a program of lectures, exhibitions, literary presentations, and the screening of the film, 50 years after its release, and its sequel ‘Jaws II’, on the beach of La Rada.
In addition to the cinema, children can enjoy various performances, such as the musical ‘Aladdin and the Wonderful Lamp’, on July 10 at the Playa El Angel; the theatrical show ‘The Farandulitos in the Farm’, on July 17 in the Plaza García Caparrós; the musical ‘The Wonderful World of Oz’, on August 14 at the Parque de Los Niños; and the musical ‘Hercules’, on September 4 at the Parque El Calvario.
The mayor Macarena Diánez has also highlighted the show ‘Journey to the center of myself’, Francisco Vinuesa, framed in the Biennial of Flamenco Art Malaga. The guitarist from Malaga will be accompanied by great artists such as El Bola, Canito and Daniel Bonilla, singing, and the dancer Rocío Molina, National Dance Award, among others.
Musical program
Multiple appointments have been scheduled with classical music, such as the performance of the Cologne Chamber Philharmonic, and the Classical Music Festival, with performances by great groups such as the Malaga Philharmonic Orchestra, on July 19, and the Carmina Nova Youth Choir and the Lehmbert String Quartet and Piano, on July 31, The Night of the Baroque with L’Accademico formato, on August 2, and Busker String Quartet, on August 5.
Another of the big bets for this summer is the symphonic show with the soundtrack of Malinche, the musical by Nacho Cano, on August 30 at the Plaza de Toros, or the concerts of the García Fajer Foundation. Finally, the García Caparrós square will host on September 5 the concert ‘Aromas del Sur’, by a quintet, with the piano of Diego Valdivia.
The Lyric Festival, by the company Teatro Lírico Andaluz will also have a prominent place in the cultural program, with Mozart’s opera ‘The Marriage of Figaro’, on July 25, and the zarzuela by Jiménez, ‘The Barber of Seville’, on July 26.
La Movida Flamenca, inaugurated with great success by Javier Ojeda and Daniel Casares, will return in early August to Parque El Angel. For the second edition, both artists propose a great musical show with the participation of Pedro Guerra and Ángela González and, in the flamenco part, Diego del Morao and Julián Bedmar.
Another of the artists who will pass through Estepona will be the multifaceted Pablo Carbonell. On August 6 he will perform his best known songs in an acoustic concert of voice and guitar in the Plaza Antonia Guerrero.
The Plaza de Toros will also be the stage for other performances. On August 29 there will be a tribute to Heavy Metal by great bands of the moment, and on September 5, the magician Jorge Blas will present new and surprising illusions in a show for the whole family.
Another event of great interest is the Certamen Mundial del Jamón, which will be held from August 8 to 17 on the Paseo Marítimo, and in addition to the best Iberian products, will offer free concerts every night: Joana Jiménez y Compás Flamenco, Carla Fernández y El Callejón, Álvaro García, No me pises que llevo chancas, Long Play, La Húngara, Son del Puerto, Kiki Morente, Noche andaluza tribute to Triana and Medina Azahara, and Mojinos Escozíos.
The big thematic event of ‘La Noche en Blanco’ will take place on September 6, and will be dedicated to young people on the occasion of the Year of Youth. Cultural, recreational and musical activities will take place throughout the day, such as a FC25 video game tournament or performances by Oscar ‘El Ruso’, ‘El Jhota’ and DJ Monchi on the Rada beach, among other events.
Sharing cultures
As part of the ‘Sharing Cultures’ project, on September 13, 27 and 28, the culture, gastronomy and handicrafts of different countries can be discovered on the Paseo Marítimo. Another of the activities related to gastronomy and music will be the ‘Wine Street’, an oenological experience that brings us closer to the culture of wine, and this year will be held on July 12 in the central Plaza Manilva.
The Fashion Week will be held from 24 to 27 September, and includes the VI Contest of Young Designers ‘Estepona de Moda’, which this year will distribute 3,000 euros among the best classified.
The summer program will close the presentation of the album ‘Esencia de Mujer’, edited by the Unicorn Association, which reviews eight decades of music performed by women, in the voices of Ana Fargas, Virginia Alexandre, Juana Escribano, Candela Vergara and La Negra Mayté. The event will take place on September 26 at the Felipe VI Auditorium, and will benefit the Spanish Association Against Cancer of Estepona.
As for exhibitions, the mayor recalled that the Palacio de Exposiciones hosts until September 21 the immersive exhibition Van Gogh ‘Greatest Hits’. He also announced that the exhibition hall of the Mirador del Carmen Cultural Center will host the art exhibition ‘Quiñones: To the origin’, by the Cadiz artist based in Estepona, Juan Miguel Quiñones. The sculptural exhibition, curated by Mariela Franzoni and Flor Reiners, will remain on display from August 1 to December 14.
