The French writer and origamist Alain Georgeot will give a lecture on ‘The Art of Paper’ at Casa de las Tejerinas.

The event will take place on Friday, May 22, at 6:00 p.m., with free access until full capacity is reached.

The Estepona City Council informs that the French writer and origamist based in the city, Alain Georgeot, will give the conference ‘The art of paper’ next Friday, May 22, at 18:00 hours, in the Alfonso Gil Hall of the Casa de Las Tejerinas, located in the Plaza de las Flores.

Paper folder since 1983 and former president of the French Movement of Paper Folders, has collaborated with origamists in 113 countries, and regularly participates in international origami conventions. Author of several articles on the history of paper and its connection to serenity and the human brain. “When the hand is occupied by paper, the mind is free,” he says.

In this meeting, the speaker proposes a journey through the history of paper, from its creation to its universal expansion. “We will explore its capacity for both study and distraction”.

The session will take place in a multilingual environment and will have a dynamic character; it will include practical exercises to exercise hands and mind, with a focus on “folds of smiles and reflections”.

It is a perfect opportunity for a gentle introduction to origami, serving as a prelude to future hands-on workshops.

Alain Georgeot (Castelsarrasin, Tarn-et-Garonne (France)- 1952). With more than fifty works written throughout his career, his experience as an origamist is also reflected in his way of writing: subtle folds, precision of gestures, beauty in the minimum.

Last year he took a firm step on the Spanish-French literary scene with ‘Los Balsaminos’. Inspired by a personal experience with an origamist from Benin, the story starts from the everyday to lead to a vital reflection on respect, ancestral wisdom and the transformation of the individual.
