The most awaited games of the year come to Spain for the first time at the International Board Game Meeting in Estepona

The event, which can bring together more than 4,000 fans, will offer tournaments, prizes, author signings and the latest news in the sector with free admission.

The Estepona City Council informs that the Palacio de Congresos will become this coming weekend (November 8 and 9) the epicenter of leisure and creativity with the celebration of the International Board Games Meeting, an event that will bring together players, families, authors, publishers and fans from all over Europe.

During these two days, attendees will be able to discover the latest novelties in board games. Among the most outstanding presentations of this edition is ‘Orloj’, the winning prototype of the last edition of BGC (Board Game Convention), which has become one of the most awaited games after its participation in the international fair Essen Spiel, in Germany. In addition, dozens of publishers and authors will be present, there will be tournaments, contests and demonstrations, and you will be able to enjoy a family and participative atmosphere.

The event will also feature the presentation in Spain of “7 Empires” and the ‘Mare Nostrum’ edition of the acclaimed game ‘Concordia’, both by the renowned author Mac Gerdts and published by the German publisher PD Verlag, who will be present during the meeting. Other titles to be presented for the first time in Spain include ‘Recall’, ‘Papyria’, ‘Forestry’, ‘Ants’ and ‘Echoes of Time’, among others.

The event, which usually attracts an average of 4,000 people each year, has established itself as one of the most important recreational events on the national calendar, attracting both local audiences and visitors from different parts of Spain and Europe. The program of activities includes a varied offer for all audiences. Visitors will be able to enjoy the largest catalog of giant games in Spain, participate in the Andalusian Puzzle Tournament or discover new talents in the Prototype Contest, a contest from which at least one game is published every year.

The Best Spanish Board Games Awards will also be presented in the categories of Best Author, Best Expert Game, Best Family Game and Best Educational Game, and there will be a special area for young authors, where they will be able to show their projects to publishers and specialized public.

In addition, a toy library with more than 200 games available will allow families to enjoy guided games, while more than 30 publishers will present their latest novelties, including a special area for small emerging publishers. During the event, national and international authors and illustrators will offer signing sessions and live demonstrations.

Access to the meeting will be completely free, although it is necessary to request an invitation at the box office of the Palacio de Exposiciones y Congresos during the event.

The meeting has established itself as an unmissable event for fans, creators and publishers in the sector. With a diverse and participatory program, it promotes the game as a cultural, educational and social tool, giving visibility to both major publishers and young talents in game design. Each edition brings together thousands of people willing to enjoy, learn and share their passion for board games.

The councilor attached to the Youth area, Julia Simón, has indicated that this event is one of the highlights of the ‘Year of Youth’, which is celebrating the City Council of Estepona. “We thank the organization that has opted for our city to host this great activity of reference for fans of board games,” said the mayor.
