The municipal plan for the renovation of playgrounds has reached 60 percent of completion

The project includes the modernization of almost twenty facilities.
The Estepona City Council reports that the plan for the renovation and modernization of playgrounds in the city is executed to 60 percent. The aim of this project is to put in perfect condition of use and safety these spaces for the leisure of the little ones, which are located both in the urban core and in different enclaves of the suburbs.
This plan is being carried out in a first phase in a total of 18 parks. At the moment, the work has already been completed in 10 of them, specifically, those located in Plaza de las Nieves in Cancelada, in Plaza de la Concordia and in front of the mayor’s office in Isdabe, those of the neighborhoods Blas Infante and Picasso, the one located on Avenida Andalucía, the park of Abuelo in Ortega y Gasset street, the Parque del Ángel, those of Santiago Apostol and Congreso streets and the one in Plaza del Ajedrez.
On the other hand, the playground located in the municipal nursery of Cancelada, the one located in the Plaza de los Pescadores, the one in Altos de Guadalobón, the one in Jardín de la Vega, in front of the National Police station (end of Terraza street), the one in the Fair and Sports Park and the one in the Plaza de la Comunicación are pending to be executed in the coming weeks. On the other hand, it should be noted that work has already begun to improve the children’s playground in Espronceda Street.
The investment of this municipal plan is 7545,254 euros (VAT included), and includes the replacement of the protective surfaces formed by rubber tiles for continuous rubber safety pavements 4 centimeters thick. In addition, the play elements in poor condition that can be repaired are being removed and transported to the City Hall warehouse to be given a second life as spare parts for other elements, if possible.
Street furniture elements that interfere with the works, such as litter garbage cans or benches, are also being removed and subsequently relocated within the children’s area or in its immediate vicinity.
New sets of playground equipment or isolated elements are being installed and placed according to the safety area required and indicated by the manufacturer. Finally, in those areas that do not have a perimeter safety area, an enclosure consisting of colored metal fences 90 centimeters high is being installed.
In short, this action is being carried out in enclosures where the play and safety elements that are in poor condition are being replaced by others of higher quality, more modern and adapted to the needs of children.
This intervention is the first phase of a plan that will reach all the playgrounds in the municipality in the coming months.
