'Tiempo de Espera', Valparaíso Ediciones (Granada, 2022, first edition and 2023, second edition), is a collection of poems that proposes a deep and abyssal reflection on three essential personal elements: vulnerability, transience and identity. Written during the hardest months of the covid pandemic, the text is constituted from an intense existential meditation about our ephemeral history, our temporariness and interimness, with the imperious need to talk with the reader about what we could only learn in that "waiting time", when life stopped us all of a sudden; But also made, also, in a personal time in which abandoned adolescence and youth and escaping maturity, the poet reflects from a vital terrace in which he is installed waiting for an end that is sensed, for the first time, closer.
But this is not a sad or caliginous reflection; on the contrary, this collection of poems is a hyaline, joyful and happy song that rises joyfully for all that has been experienced. An exhortation to take advantage of the present in the face of the constancy of the fleetingness of time, as John Lennon sang: "life is that thing that happens while you are busy making other plans".
"Elogio del tiempo" (Antología poética 1996-2021), is an anthology that includes the period of José Sarria's poetic creation of the last twenty-five years and that has been translated into English by Gordon McNeer, professor at the prestigious universities of Florida, Princetown or Georgia, being one of the most outstanding contemporary American translators.
The lyrical delivery gathers those poems that transit, meditate and become aware of the existence of others, of those who are different. Hence the initial dedication: "To the others who opened my eyes to what is now visible".
