The works for the new public parking lot in El Carmen are at 50% completion after overcoming the most difficult works.

The site, which will have more than 300 parking spaces, will be integrated into the municipal network of low-cost parking lots.
The Estepona City Council reports that the works to build the sixth public parking at a cost of 1 euro during the day, which will be located in the vicinity of the church of El Carmen, are at 50% completion after overcoming the phase of greater complexity of the work, so from now on they pick up speed.
The mayor of Estepona, José María García Urbano, today visited the works and checked the progress in the construction of this new space for parking at low cost. The alderman explained that this type of work within the town “are always complex at the beginning to be located next to adjacent buildings, which requires working with all the care” and stressed the difficulties encountered in the first excavations the construction company due to the hardness of the ground materials. However, he indicated that the works “have picked up speed and will be on schedule”.
The new El Carmen public parking lot will have more than 300 parking spaces distributed over three subway levels. These new spaces will be added to the more than 2,000 that already exist in the municipality with this parking formula distributed in the parking lots built in the new City Hall, in the Plaza Antonia Guerrero, in the Athletics Stadium and in the Plaza del Ajedrez. As of this Friday, August 1, also the parking La Viña joins the municipal network after the rescue of the concession by the City Council.
The works, which began last February, are being executed by the company Innovaciones Técnicas y Recursos Constructivos S.A. and have an investment of 10,001,331 million euros (VAT included). This project is subsidized for an amount of 1.4 million euros by the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, financed by the European Union-Next Generation EU.
When the works on the future parking lot next to the church of El Carmen are completed, the Consistory will create a square in the area and the current surface parking lots will be maintained, as well as road traffic.
