Three companies bid for the operation of the Estepona food market

The Consistory is committed to a definitive and quality project that will contribute to boosting trade in the area.

The Estepona City Council reports that three companies have submitted bids to take over the operation of the municipal food market. The Consistory opened last April the public tender for the concession of the market building, with all its facilities and dependencies, for the economic exploitation of the property as a commercial establishment, catering, catering and sale of products, as well as any other compatible uses and activities authorized under applicable law.

The Consistory wants to develop the possibilities of the municipal building by means of its exploitation and that this supposes a definitive impulse to the commerce of an area that is in continuous process of revitalization, as it is the historical center of our municipality. For this reason, for this new concession we are committed to a definitive and quality project.

The tender for the concession has aroused the interest of three companies with extensive experience in the catering, hotel and tourism sector. Two of them are from the province of Malaga (Estepona and Marbella) and the third from Seville.

The property, of 950 square meters, has an unbeatable location, on Villa Street, in the heart of the city center. The concession will be for a period of 20 years. The minimum annual fee to be received by the City Council has been set at 83,362 euros. The most economically advantageous offer for the municipal coffers will be selected, that is to say, the one with the highest fee.

It will be the obligation of the successful bidder to adopt the measures and carry out the necessary actions so that the facilities meet each and every one of the requirements legally foreseen for the operation of the building, in accordance with the purpose of the concession, without the City Council assuming any cost or responsibility whatsoever. Likewise, the operation will be carried out by the awarded businessman, with the assumption by the same of the profits and losses of the operation, and without, therefore, the Consistory assumes any risk.

The Estepona Market was built in 1949 and operated as a traditional market until 2018, when it underwent a comprehensive reform for use as a hotel and commercial establishment.
