Work begins on the renovation of the sewage system on San Lorenzo Avenue to make it a two-way street

The works, which include a complete renovation of the supply and sanitation networks, require the closure of the City Hall parking lot, which will reopen before Christmas.

Estepona City Council reports that today have started the scheduled works in the extension of the Avenida de San Lorenzo, an intervention that runs the water service concessionaire (Hidralia) through the improvement fee. The action will allow the complete renovation of the supply and sanitation networks of this environment and also the complete remodeling of the road, which will be with a two-way traffic.

This work complements the large boulevard project currently underway. The execution of these works requires a temporary reorganization of the circulation due to the cutting of San Lorenzo Avenue, so that the access to the downtown area will be made through Africa Street. Likewise, the parking lot of the City Hall building will be closed to the public during the first phase of the works. It is expected to reopen before Christmas.

Hidralia's action covers an approximate area of about 2,800 square meters (both road and sidewalk), and includes the renovation of the supply and sanitation networks of this street according to new demands of flow and pressure included in the action plan of local improvement fee. Thus, the quality and sizing of the collectors, both for water transport and distribution and sanitation, will be replaced and improved. The width of the sidewalk on the east side will also be standardized and all the services affected by the work will be renewed. Once the work is completed, the road will have two-way traffic.

The total execution period for the work is five and a half months, although it will be carried out in phases so that the City Hall public parking lot will be affected for the shortest possible time.

This intervention is included in the great boulevard project, an action that will be the culmination of the great urban transformation that the city has undergone in the last decade and that will involve the creation of a large public space in the heart of the town. This municipal project, whose works are at an advanced stage according to the execution schedule, is developed in the San Lorenzo and España avenues, in the axis between the new Town Hall, the promenade and the town center. It contemplates its exterior redevelopment for the generation of another large pedestrian boulevard with leisure spaces, as well as the creation of a subway parking lot with capacity for more than 300 vehicles with the system of the municipal parking network of 1 euro during the day of cost for the user.
