Writer Elvira Lindo and singer Alondra Bentley will participate in the first anniversary event of the Library of Contemporary Cultures.

The meeting with the author and the concert will take place on December 19, starting at 8:00 p.m., in the Mirador del Carmen library with free access.

The Library of Contemporary Cultures of the Mirador del Carmen of Estepona celebrates its first anniversary this month, and on the occasion of this event has organized a celebration that will have the writer and screenwriter Elvira Lindo and singer Alondra Bentley as protagonists.

The City Council has chosen two well-known names in the arts and literature to commemorate the first year of operation of a municipal facility that has become a benchmark as a transversal, dynamic and future-oriented cultural center, equipped with the most advanced technology and means, and offering citizens a complete range of uses.

Thus, on December 19, starting at 8:00 p.m., and in the library itself, there will be a meeting with the writer and scriptwriter Elvira Lindo (Cádiz, 1962), one of the great names of Spanish narrative. She studied journalism at the Complutense University of Madrid and in 1981 she began working at Radio Nacional de España (she spent a year at the Malaga station), where she worked as a scriptwriter, announcer, commentator and presenter, tasks she repeated at Cadena SER and on television. Her radio scripts gave rise to the character of Manolito Gafotas, the protagonist of a series of successful books all over the world, which led her to receive the National Prize for Children’s and Young People’s Literature in 1998.

His works include the novels El otro barrio (1998), Algo más inesperado que la muerte (2003), adapted to the stage; Una palabra tuya (2005), winner of the Biblioteca Breve Award and made into a film with great success by Ángeles González-Sinde; Lo que me queda por vivir (2010); Lugares que no quiero compartir con nadie (2011); Noches sin dormir (2015); A corazón abierto (2020); and En la boca del lobo (2023). She has also written theater and is the author of numerous film scripts, such as La vida inesperada (2014) or La primera noche de mi vida (1998), which garnered several awards at national and international festivals.

Winner of the 2015 International Journalism Prize, the Atlántida Prize from the Publishers’ Guild of Catalonia in 2009 and the LIBER 2023 Prize for the most outstanding Spanish-American author, Elvira Lindo has also been awarded the Gold Medal for Merit in Fine Arts.

The first anniversary event of the Library of Contemporary Cultures of Estepona will also feature a concert by the singer Alondra Bentley, a folk pop artist of British origin, but raised and based in Spain. Creator of a personal style that combines folk, pop and indie, her unmistakable music, performed in both English and Spanish, has managed to connect with a varied audience. He has recently presented his latest album, ‘La Materia’, his first in Spanish.

Access to the event, both the meeting with Elvira Lindo and the Alondra Bentley concert, will be free until full capacity is reached.
